U.S. CENSUS JOBS AVAILABLE U.S. Census jobs are available for any student 18 and older. The jobs will start in April and will be part time with most of the work between 4 and 8 pm and week ends. WEST END PLAYERS AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED "SOUTH PACIFIC" TO BE PERFORMED IN JUNE. Acting and singing auditions will be held on Monday March 8th and 15th. Orchestra auditions will be tomorrow and the 10th at Windsor Auditorium. You do not have to audition to participate. Information sheet in the office.

SENIORS-ACT There will be another test June 12 with registration due May 7th. Both the April and the June test will be here at West Iron in the Commons at 8:00 a.m. register online at www.actstudent.org. If you have questions, see Ms. Harrington.

MTU SUMMER CPROGRAM ANNOUNCED The MTU Summer Youth Program information is now available in Ms. HarringtonŐs office. They offer Exploration Camps for grade 6th -8th, Career and Adventure Explorations for grades 9th Đ 11th, Courses for College Credit (current 10th and 11th graders), Women in Engineering, etc. These are weeklong summer camps and career/adventure explorations filled with team projects, hands-on activities, field trips, and more. Look at www.youthprograms.mtu.edu to see all the programs that are available. You can also see Ms. Harrington for more information. Gear Up students should take advantage of these programs.

PROFESSIONAL POLICE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE The Wisconsin Professional Police Association Scholarship is now available in Ms. HarringtonŐs office. This scholarship is for seniors enrolling in a technical/vocational or 4 yr. college pursuing a degree in law enforcement, police science, or criminal justice. See Ms. Harrington for an application.

WYKON ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE-April 30th The Booster Club's "Wykon Athletic Scholarship" applications are available in the guidance office. Any senior who has participated in Wykon sports is encouraged to apply. Applications are due by April 30.

3-on-3 Double Elimination Basketball Tournament -March 27 Ironwood 18th Annual Tournament entry forms can be found in the office. The Tournament will be held at the Ironwood High School on Saturday, March 27th.

GOGEBIC COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP-March 15 The Gogebic Community College scholarship application is now in Ms. HarringtonŐs office. Deadline to apply is March 15th. See Ms. Harrington for an application.

SENIORS Seniors can now start submitting their college applications to Ms. Harrington. If you apply online, please provide Ms. Harrington the Counselor portion and two stamps so she can send out your transcripts. You cannot mail transcripts on your own. They must be sent by the school. See Ms. Harrington if you have any questions.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS Remember that the CareerCruising website is accessable to all high school students. You can log on at www.careercruising.com and enter westironhs for the logon and 49964 for the password. This is another great tool to use for interests, careers, and colleges.

SCHOLARSHIP The Wisconsin Public Service Foundation is now offering their Cash for College scholarship. You must apply online a www.wisconsinpublicservice.com/news/scholarships.aspx to access the scholarship application. See Ms. Harrington if you have any questions.

SCHOLARSHIP-Deadline April 1st The Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Education Foundation Scholarship is not available in Ms. HarringtonŐs office. You must be a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0, be able to demonstrate financial need, will attend a Michigan college/university, and will be pursuing a field of study that will lead to employment in the crude oil and natural gas industry. See Ms. Harrington for an application. Deadline to apply is April 1st, 2010.

SCHOLARSHIP-Deadline October 8th The AES Engineers Scholarship is now available online at scholarships@aesengineers.com. There is an essay that must be completed for this scholarship. See Ms. Harrington if you have questions. Deadline is October 8th, 2010.
